A masterpiece of organic design, La Chaise was designed in 1948 by Charles and Ray Eames for MoMA’s International Low-Cost Furniture competition. A marriage of technical engineering and elegant form, this striking lounge chair was inspired by Floating Figure, a 1927 sculpture by Gaston Lachaise. The Eames La Chaise is composed of a shell made from polyester resin with a satin-smooth white lacquer finish. The base is made from chrome-plated tubular steel, while the cruciform base is produced with solid natural oak (sourced from Western Europe) with a protective natural lacquer finish.
